King Fisher Blue

Photo: from pixels.com

King Fisher Blue - We dance in passage Fleeting glances You're always many wingbeats ahead

My malaise downwards-cast Hands bracingly shoved into wool pockets Feet fast and strident

You caught my peripheral Lifting my chest like feathers - As I list the cords to cut From the burdensome life - You rouse me with gold and electric I merge with that fine spear-beak

Noticing threads of ice in black mud My face looks back White and ashen

My heart speaks another language Of feeding the love Not the cold heavy expectation Of what may never come Of rising to gold-blue sunset With oak silouhette

Gratitude for the Fisher King Blue-gold spear My heart's shield
